Great Plains STEM Education CenterSTEM is about changing classroom dynamics to motivate all students. The methodology includes integration of content and context, in other words, connecting the abstract to the world of students. On a macro level, our school systems are fragmented and do not do well to serve our workforce needs or reinforce our economic development investments. A proven method of changing classroom dynamics and serving our state's future needs is to involve all stakeholders in a coordinated statewide STEM Learning Network. This is the pathway to leadership in STEM Education. The Great Plains STEM Education Center is in the process of facilitating that effort.
At the Great Plains STEM Education Center, our goal is to bring North Dakota to the forefront of STEM Education.
Our role is to provide leadership, professional development for teachers and administrators, documentation of STEM Education competence through endorsements that appear on licenses and certificates that appear on transcripts, promote student competitions and connect with the larger community. In other words, transform delivery of these critical subjects.
So what is STEM Education?
It is more than the acronym implies, it is much more than Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
